We all know what it's like to be different. To have different views from other people. Whether it is religion, ethnicity, sexuality, politics, or lifestyle, everyone is different in these multiple aspects of life. It's hard to discover who you are. It's hard to accept yourself for who you are. Nowadays, people are so judgmental of others. Society has always been very opinionated about others, but the fact that we openly denounce people for their personalities is completely unacceptable. Not only does it harm the person who is being judged mentally, but it also hurts those surrounding that person. People are influenced by others. We take what other people say about us personally oh so often, and thus we begin to believe what is said about us. This leads me to my point about today's Modern Woman.
Looking back on society through history, it is clear that women have worked tremendously hard to gain respect from men. We have worked tirelessly to earn the civil rights and opportunities that everyone else has. Time and time again women are still discriminated against. We still face sexist jokes and opportunities every day. Men and boys alike treat Women and Girls in such a way that is completely unnecessary. By now, you have probably noticed that I am a Feminist. I've been one since the day I can remember, and my views have only grown stronger since then. As a teenager, I have the opportunity to view different people around campus and observe the jokes and humiliation taken towards women.
So, this blog is where I am going to relay all that I see around me. Not only will it focus on feminism, but this blog will also be a place to raise awareness about discrimination against people who are different. I will mainly focus on the LGBT community seeing as I can easily relate to it.
If you have any experiences or ideas for raising awareness feel free to comment :) I am here for support for everyone. No matter how old you are; no matter what your sexuality is; no matter who you identify as; no matter your gender; no matter your religion; no matter who you are. I am here for you. Let me help you ♥
